Since graduating from the North Adelaide School of Art in South Australia in 1995, Mirranda Burton’s career pathway has seen her working in a variety of media including, printmaking, illustration, independent and commercial animation and multimedia design. Now based in Melbourne, she has more recently been devoted to the art form of graphic story telling, creating autobiographical comic strips that have been appearing in literary publications since 2006. In 2011 her first book Hidden was published by Black Pepper for which she received an Aurealis Award for Best Graphic Novel/Illustrated Book.
As artist in residence at Dunmoochin, living and working in a unique bushland setting has provided new inspiration and has particularly influenced her printmaking. Mirranda’s lino cut prints are an outlet for playful and often surreal speculations upon materialism, spirituality and human nature.
